How to Make Single Cells Bigger in Google Sheets

While it is not possible to make just a single cell bigger, we can resize the row or column that it contains.

Step 1: Click the Row Header for a Cell you want to make bigger 

Click the Row header of the cell you want to change to highlight it. 

In this example, number 5.

Step 2: Hover The Cursor below the Selected Row 

Hover the Cursor below the selected row until the icon changes to two arrows, one pointing up and the other down. Left click and hold when this icon appears.

Step 3: Drag Cursor down to increase the Cell size 

With the arrow icon clicked and held down, drag the bottom of the cell down. A line will appear that will indicate how big the cells will now become.

Step 4: Release Cursor to Resize Cell

When you have decided on how big you want your cell to be, release the cursor and it will be resized.

How to Make Cells Bigger in Google Sheets (Multiple Cells)

Step 1: Hold Command ⌘ + Click (Mac) or CTRL + Click (Windows) to Highlight Target Rows

To change multiple cell sizes, firstly select a row header then hold the ⌘ key down on a Mac ( CTRL on Windows) and select the others header rows you want to highlight. In this case we have selected row numbers 6 and 12

Hover the Cursor below either of the selected rows until the icon changes to two arrows. Left click and hold down when this icon appears.

Step 3: Drag Cursor down to increase the Cell sizes

With the arrow icon clicked and held down, drag the bottom of the cell down. A line will appear that will indicate how big the cells will now become. This can be done on either of the selected header cells.

When you have decided on how large you want these cells to be, release the cursor and they will be resized together.
