How to Identify Distinct Values in Google Sheets

Follow the steps below to identify distinct values in Google Sheets.

Step 1: Identify Your Data Range

First, determine the range of cells containing the data you want to work with. For example, if your data is in column A from rows 1 to 100, your data range is A1:A100.

For the purpose of this guide, our data range would be A2:A20.

Step 2: Use the UNIQUE Function

Select an empty cell where you want the list of unique values to start. It's important to choose a location where the list won't overlap with existing data.

Type the UNIQUE function formula. For our example, you would type =UNIQUE(A2:A20).
